If you thought about the quintessential English village you may well have found it in Sutton Poyntz. With many old thatched cottages, a pond with bench seats under the weeping willows with ducks expectantly waiting for some bread to be thrown, a village hall and a church hall and a pub, The Sprinhead, Sutton Poyntz has everything you would expect. It has existed since about 100 years before the Norman Conquest.

Being pretty much on the edge of Weymouth, however, you will never have a problem with choice - the possibilities are almost endless. There are no shops actually in Sutton Poynts but two convenience stores very close by along Preston Road.
There are many events organised throughout the year from plant sales and a scarecrow competition to a village barbecue and a cream tea afternoon. If you need to work off some calories after such an event there are plenty of walks on your doorstep with great views over the Osmington White Horse and the Jurassic Coastline along the Dorset coast.
