Located in Ringstead, Dorset
The Creek is a holiday cottage in Ringstead, Dorset, sleeping 5 and pet friendly with direct access to Ringstead Beach - the perfect family holiday location
The Creek is located in the wonderfully tucked away Ringstead offering the opportunity for an amazing family holiday and a lifetime of happy memories - having holidayed here I speak from experience. With direct access to Ringstead beach and all accommodation on one floor you can wake up and be on the beach in 2 minutes. The beach is all year round dog friendly and The Creek accepts up to two well behaved dogs so everyone can enjoy their holiday together. There is a shop and cafe just back from the beach but the Smugglers Inn at Osmington is accessible via a very scenic walk along the coast which will take 15 minutes or so - top tip, take a torch for the trip back if going in the evening - there are no lights! The walking here is good but quite competitive if heading towards Lulworth so be warned it's not just a gentle stroll although very much worth it. If you like water sports this is a great place for sailing or windsurfing but beware the reef at low tide as it will eat dagger boards or fins like they are going out of fashion. Weymouth is a short drive away for further eating options as are several surrounding villages with some good pubs to discover.
The accommodation at The Creek comprises of a sitting room with two comfortable sofas, TV with basic Sky, DVD player and dining area. The kitchen has a utility and is equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and a range of accessories and utensils. There is a cloakroom with basin and toilet and two bedrooms arranged as a king size double and a twin with a single bed found built into a corridor that would be suitable only for children. The bathroom has a bath with shower over.
Outside is a private patio complete with furniture and large shared gardens. There is off road parking for two cars. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.
Ringstead is a small hamlet dominated by Ringstead Bay and beach, part of the Jurassic Coast. The beach is pebble and shingle with some sand, especially at low tide with rock pools at the western end. There is a reef quite close to shore whic becomes partially revealed at low tide and the beach can be a good place to look for fossils. For those that are windsurfing from here please note the reef has no respect for fins - I have lost count the amount of times I have connected with it!Read more
Ringstead has a long history and is noted in the Doomsday Book, but the small village mentioned there is east of the current village and now no longer exists. However, it has retained its excellent views of Weymouth and Portland and is an excellent base for walking with many options open to you including Durdle Door if you wish a longer walk.
There is a shop and cafe at Ringstead in the car park for the beach but that is as far as it goes. Part of Ringstead's charm is that fact that it is so small and out of the way. However, the Smuggler's at Osmington Mills, the next village on, is within easy walking distance along a coast path so you don't have to resort to taking to the car if you don't want to. If you do though, you are spoilt for choice in almost every direction.Read less
