The Old Post Office Cottage is a detached cottage surrounded by garden about 2 miles outside of Wareham in the glorious Dorset countryside. The property is tucked away and gives you the feeling of peace so you know you are on holiday from the moment you arrive. So many options of what to do or see from this location. Wareham is just a couple of miles away, known as the 'Gateway To The Purbecks' and dating back to Saxon times, hire a boat from the quayside or visit the market. Take in some stunning countryside and wildlife at the same time at RSPB Arne or take a trip through history at Corfe Castle. Have a day relaxing on the beach at Studland or Swanage or use it as a base and explore on the Swanage Steam Railway. Visit Kimmeridge Bay and go on a fossil hunt and visit the Etches Collection Museum at the same time. Visit some coastal landmarks, Old Harry Rocks, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are all a short drive away.

The accommodation at The Old Post Office Cottage comprises of a sitting room with wood burner, TV, DVD player and WiFi enabled throughout. There is also a reading room with doors to the patio which gives you more options for relaxation. The kitchen has an electric AGA with double oven and 2 hot plates, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and a host of accessories and utensils as well as a dining area with large table and plenty of seating. A bathroom with bath, basin and toilet rounds off the ground floor. Upstairs is a king size double bedroom, a double, a twin and a single children's bedroom. There is a shower room with shower, basin and toilet. A stairgate, cot and highchair can be provided upon request.

Outside is a wonderful garden that surrounds the property and has a patio area complete with furniture. There is off street parking for up to four cars. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.

The Wareham Music Festival is held every August and is a celebration of all kinds of music showcasing local talent as well as attracting musicians from outside of Dorset. Events are held throughout the town at the Quay, Town Hall and from local pubs. The Wareham Carnival is celebrated in July with events, stalls, music and fireworks. During the summer you will encounter Wareham Wednesdays, held over six weeks with each day having a different theme from pram racing to tug of war. There are a huge amount of events at RSPB Arne which is covered in more detail below.

Activities and Attractions

Wareham Town Museum is located in the heart of Wareham and is open Monday to Saturday all year round. The exhibits include T E Lawrence, archaeology, social history, pottery, history and even the Royal Naval Cordite Factory. Exhibits do change and there are events held often throughout the year. Wareham Boat Hire are located on the Quay and offer a variety of ways to get on the water and enjoy the River Frome. A great way to see the wildlife, you can hire motor boats, kayaks, canoes, rowing boats and paddle boards.

RSPB Arne is a nature reserve set in almost 1,400 acres and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Opened back in 1966, it is a diverse landscape covering acid grassland, salt marsh, woodland, reed beds and mudflats. It has featured in BBC's Countryfile and has a huge variety of wildlife and plant life. It is a bird spotters paradise with Dartford Warblers, Nightjar, Woodlark and Spoonbills just some of the many species that can be seen. There is a large herd of Sika Deer on the park and no fewer than 22 species of dragonfly have been spotted. If you are a fan of nature then this is the place to visit.

With almost 50 restaurants, pubs, cafes and tea rooms in the town then you will not be short of variety in where to eat out in Wareham. Curry lovers in particular will be happy with two outstanding restaurants.
