Activities and Attractions

Corfe Castle dates all the way back to 1086 and a trip to the castle will allow you to discover the history of the castle over the last 1,000 years. With tales of treachery and treason, 'murder holes', fallen walls and secret places there is something for everyone to discover. On site there is a National Trust shop as well as 18th century tea rooms and gardens. The castle is open every day from 10:00.

The Corfe Castle Model Village is set in an acre of landscaped gardens and includes much more than just the village which is spectacular. Opened back in 1966, the village is built in 1/20th scale and depicts Corfe Castle as it would have looked in 1646. In addition there is a giant games area, croquet lawn, fossil corner, enchanted fairy garden, the potting shed miniature museum, gift shop and The Courtyard tea room. Corfe Castle also has a museum, open daily and dealing with local history from the dinosaur to more modern day industries that have helped shape the town to what it is today. As you travel around the area you may have enjoyed the odd glass or two of the local ale bearing the Corfe name. The Corfe Castle Brewery is on the edge of town and has a shop so even when you leave the area you can take the taste of the area home with you.

For a unique attraction head to Blue Pool, named for the amazing water colours in the small village of Furzebrook. Set in a deep clay bowl, you can enjoy walks around the Pool in the 25 acres of heath and woodland that the sandy paths cross. Also on the site are tea rooms, a museum showing the history of clay mining in the area and is also home to the Wareham Bears, a collection of over 200 miniature dressed bears set in their own house.

Eating Out

Although it is not the biggest town you will have visited there are over 10 places to eat out in Corfe Castle itself with lots more to choose from in the outlying villages.
