St Johns View is a contemporary detached holiday home located in Fortuneswell, Portland. This unusual two storey house is perfect for families and those that love the outdoors. There is plenty to do in Portland. The walking is excellent with stunning coastal views on almost all routes. Continue a walk in Tout Quarry Sculpture Park and combine the outdoors with artworks dotted around the trails with new art being added all the time. There are 3 lighthouses on Portland with one now a bird observatory and nature centre and the active one having a visitor centre right at Portland Bill where you can also indulge in a great lunch or cream tea at the Lobster Pot. Plenty of water sports on offer with the National Sailing Academy on Portland harbour so try windsurfing, sailing, kite surfing, paddle boarding or diving. The fishing is also good with several spots around Portland holding record sized fish. Visit Portland Museum, relax on Church Ope beach, discover the pirate graves or take an evening stroll along Chesil Beach.
The accommodation at St Johns View is spread over two floors, the ground floor and lower ground floor and comprises of two bedrooms on the lower ground floor, a king size double with en suite shower, basin and toilet and a double bedroom. The bathroom has a bath with separate shower, basin and toilet. A cot and highchair can be provided upon request. Up to the ground floor where there is a cloakroom. The kitchen has a dining area with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine with a dining table and chairs for four. The sitting room has a wood burning stove and has TV and WiFi enabled throughout.
Outside there is a garden with lawn and patio areas complete with furniture. There is off road parking for two cars. Shop, pun and beach just 5 minutes away. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.
Fortuneswell covers quite a large area, really from the Heights Hotel at the top of the island with its amazing views along Chesil Beach to the bottom of the hill where it blends into Chiswell. As you descend from the Heights you will see a statue by artist and sculptor Joanna Szuwalska title "The Spirit of Portland". Fortuneswell has many shops and along High Street you will be able to find "Isle of Portland Statues" for sale, all hand made.Read more
Once again the walking from Fortuneswell is good but do remember you are on a slope so even if the walking is easy on the way down remember the walk back! Chesil Beach is easily accessable from Fortuneswell, but turning up the hill gives you many different options for some interesting walks to the top of the island.
There are several pubs, restaurants and takeaways all available within Fortuneswell so you should find something to suit both your taste and pocket and all within walking distance.Read less
