Spinnaker House

Spinnaker House is a delightful 3-bedroomed Victorian cottage. It is situated only 5 minutes' walk from Chesil Beach and less than a 1 mile walk to Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA). The facilities and location make it an ideal base for year round holidays on the beautiful Dorset Coast.

Spinnaker House is well appointed, centrally heated and tastefully and comfortably furnished. On arriving at the house the hall leads you into a large double-aspect sitting/dining room with shutters to the front and views over the garden to the rear. There are two comfortable leather sofas, 32" TV with Freeview, DVD and radio/CD/iPod dock, dining table and chairs for 6 people plus high chair on request. Following through the hall leads to a modern, very well equipped kitchen with all new equipment including Zanussi double oven cooker and Bosch washing machine and dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and a coffee maker.

Upstairs the 3 bedrooms sleep 6. The double room has a double wardrobe, large chest of drawers, bedside tables and comfortable lighting. The twin room has shutters to the front of the house, chest of drawers and large wardrobe shared with the bunk room. The third room has adult-sized bunks, a chest of drawers and large shared wardrobe. Bed linen and tea towels are included in the fee and towels may be provided for a small charge. We offer a choice of 10 tog or 4.5 tog duvets.

The large upstairs bathroom, with its original fireplace, has both a walk-in shower and bath with shower over. Our new heating boiler allows for both of these to be running at the same time.

The sunny garden has a raised deck to catch glimpses of the sea and hills behind, a barbecue and table and chairs to enjoy sunshine at any time of the day and a secure means of storing bicycles and windsurfing gear. The road is one of the few in Fortuneswell with on-street parking right outside the house.

Fortuneswell

Fortuneswell covers quite a large area, really from the Heights Hotel at the top of the island with its amazing views along Chesil Beach to the bottom of the hill where it blends into Chiswell. As you descend from the Heights you will see a statue by artist and sculptor Joanna Szuwalska title "The Spirit of Portland". Fortuneswell has many shops and along High Street you will be able to find "Isle of Portland Statues" for sale, all hand made.

Once again the walking from Fortuneswell is good but do remember you are on a slope so even if the walking is easy on the way down remember the walk back! Chesil Beach is easily accessable from Fortuneswell, but turning up the hill gives you many different options for some interesting walks to the top of the island.

There are several pubs, restaurants and takeaways all available within Fortuneswell so you should find something to suit both your taste and pocket and all within walking distance.
