Bowman,s Cottage is a pretty, character, terraced cottage in the wide avenue that is Wakeham in Portland. Internally it has an updated contemporary style whilst keeping the original features of the cottage such as the exposed Portland stone walls and fireplaces. Perfectly located for many walks from your doorstep, Bowman,s cottage makes a great base for exploring all the area has to offer.
The accommodation at Bowman,s Cottage comprises of an entrance hall with quarry tiled flooring leading to the lounge with exposed stone chimney breast (not in use) equipped with CD music system, flat screen TV with built in DVD and WiFi. The dining room has table ans chairs for four and the kitchen comes equipped with washing machine and fridge with small freezer.
Steep and narrow cottage style stairs lead you to the first floor where bedroom one is a double and bedroom two is a twin. The bathroom has a slightly smaller than average bath with shower over, hand basin and toilet. Please note there is restricted headroom (6ft 4inch minimum).
Outside is a garden with crazy paved patio area and summer house. On road parking outside the cottage, subject to availability.

Area details
Wakeham is full of traditional quarryman's cottages dating back two to three hundred years. Although a small area it is packed with interest. Pennsylvania castle was built in 1800 by John Penn, grandson of the founder of Pennsylvania, and is now a private residence. Just round the corner from this is the Portland Museum, Rufus Castle, the ruins of St Andrews Church with its "pirate" graves and onwards to Church Ope Cove.
Read moreThere are several good walks again from Wakeham including the two butterfly reserves within easy reach. A walk along the coast down to Portland Bill will take about 45 minutes depending on how long you stop to take in the views and the wildlife. Walks along the old railway line and back to the top of the island are also available from Wakeham.
The Hayloft Cafe is open throughout the summer season for coffees and light lunches. Otherwise, it is just a short walk into Easton where there are a number of choices or by car you can reach any of Portland's eating out establishments in under 5 minutes.
