Anchor Cottage is a charming holiday cottage in Portland, Dorset, dating from the early 1800s and sleeping 5 in style
Description
Anchor Cottage is a charming cottage in a good central location that dates back to the early 1800s when it used to be a pub, The Rifleman. Unlike many Portland properties, Anchor Cottage has two dedicated parking spaces to the front of the property. The front is also a sun trap and a table and chairs are available for you to enjoy it as well as the views across the green as well as to our locally dived anchor from where we get our name.
You will find Anchor Cottage to be a home from home with many traditional features, such as the beams scavenged from the beaches of old wrecks and a Portland stone fireplace. The lounge seat five in comfort and there is a TV with Freeview, DVD player, games, books and some DVDs. Dining in the large open plan room around the six seater table is no less impressive. The kitchen provides an electric oven, gas hob, washer drier, small dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, radio/CD player, pots, pans, utensils and of course a bottle opener! Leading off from the kitchen is the huge garden with outdoor seating and BBQ. Finally on the ground floor, we find the high ceilinged family bathroom, tastefully appointed and with a good sized shower.
Up the stairs and guests can choose from the beautiful wood-beamed master bedroom with full size double bed and distant sea views or the equally stylish twin bedded room. There is also ample wardrobe space. The wood-beamed third bedroom overlooks the rear garden and has a single bed and cupboard. Space too, for a travel cot if requested. A baby seat and portable stair gate can also be provided if needed.
