Lyme Regis has quite a history and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. These days, areas of interest include the Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium which displays local fish and marine life from the Jurassic Coast. The Town Mill dates back to 1340 and is fully restored to working order and still produces flour which can be purchased from its shop. Lyme Regis Museum houses a large collection of local memorabilia, historical items and exhibits explaining the local geological and palaeontological treasures. Set into the pavement, outside the museum, is an ornate example of Coade stone work, in the form of ammonites. The Dinosaurland Fossil Museum is also located in Lyme Regis in the former church where Mary Anning, famous fossil collector, dealer, and paleontologist was christened.

A huge choice of restaurants and places to eat awaits visitors to Lyme Regis. With food from all over the world, as well as restaurants serving locally sourced, seasonal produce, there really is something for everyone. There are restaurants, bars and bistros offering traditional English, Thai, Italian, Indian and Asian cuisine; seafood and tapas; and much more.
