Area details
Beaminster is a small town in West Dorset which retains a village feel and is located at the head of the valley of the River Brit. The town is home to the Beaminster Festival, an annual event of music and art. This is usually a 9 day event held in late June and 2013 will see its 18th year. Recently, West Dorset has been voted the most popular area of outstanding natural beauty by the readers of National Country Walking Magazine. Now you can explore the area in the company of Llamas with guided Trekking, Rambling and Walking Tours with UK Llamas based just outside of Beaminster. Or try your hand at disc golf at Whitcombe Disc Golf Course, where the British Open Disc Championship has been held. Just think of playing golf but with a frisbee! Famous faces you may see in the town include Martin Clunes who has now been a resident of the area for many years.
