Fairfield Cottage is a turn of the century cottage with sea views over Lyme Bay and just a 10 minute walk to the shops, restaurants and beach of the town. Set in an elevated position the cottage was once servants quarters to the Fairfield Estate. The coastal views are simply superb and can be enjoyed form the bedrooms as well as the play paddock which is situated next door. The owners have thought of everything you will need including an additional car parking space in town if the thought of a stroll back up the hill after a hard day lazing on the beach is just too much. And with so much to do in town that could very well be the case with its safe, sandy beach, Aquarium, Museums, cinema, theatre, fossil walks, celebrity restaurants, gardens, boat trips and fishing to name but a few. Fairfield Cottage also accepts one well behaved pet.
The accommodation at Fairfield Cottage comprises of an entrance hallway leading to a kitchen equipped with a gas hob with electric oven, microwave, fridge with icebox, dishwasher washing machine and table with seating for four. There is a dining room with table and seating for eight and a lounge with open fire, comfortable sofas, TV, DVD player and WiFi. There is a ground floor bathroom with shower, bath, toilet and basin. Upstairs and bedroom one has sea views and is arranged as a double with an en suite shower room with basin and toilet. Bedroom two also has sea views and has stacking beds which can be taken apart to enable you to have three single beds in the room – ideally suited for three children as this does limit the space in the room. Bedroom three has twin beds. A travel cot, baby bath, Mclaren buggy, high-chair/booster seat are available upon request.
Outside is a large patio area complete with wooden table and chairs and barbecue. Steps lead to a lawn area and there is a shared play area with the neighbouring property with a climbing frame, football goal and 12ft trampoline. There is ample parking for guests by the property with an additional space in town for those town trips. Your fuel and power are all included in the price.
Lyme Regis, nicknamed 'The Pearl of Dorset' is the most westerly town in Dorset and lies on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. The town is famed for its fossils which can be found on its beaches and cliffs. The famous harbour wall known as 'The Cobb' featued in the film and novel of The French Lieutenant's Woman by John Fowles as well as Jane Austen's Persuasion.Read more
Lyme Regis has quite a history and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. These days, areas of interest include the Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium which displays local fish and marine life from the Jurassic Coast. The Town Mill dates back to 1340 and is fully restored to working order and still produces flour which can be purchased from its shop. Lyme Regis Museum houses a large collection of local memorabilia, historical items and exhibits explaining the local geological and palaeontological treasures. Set into the pavement, outside the museum, is an ornate example of Coade stone work, in the form of ammonites. The Dinosaurland Fossil Museum is also located in Lyme Regis in the former church where Mary Anning, famous fossil collector, dealer, and paleontologist was christened.
