There are many villages worth a visit in the area, some just for being pretty and others for the attractions they hold. Affpuddle will lead you on to Tolpuddle where you will find the Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum, birthplace of the Trade Unions. Milborne St Andrew, Winterborne Kingston and Bloxworth are all very pretty and well worth a visit.
There are no events that will attract a worldwide audience in Bere Regis but having said that there are events in the village throughout the year that can be found on the really rather good Bere Regis village website. Worth checking out to see what is on when you are visiting.
In Bere Regis itself, the church is well worth a visit. The current form dates back to 1050 but it is believed a church stood on the same site during Saxon times. Guided tours are available from April to October on Tuesdays at 11:00 am and Thursdays at 3:00 pm.

Included in that are 58 chimpanzees, living in 4 different social groups, and is the largest group of chimpanzees outside of Africa itself. The Tank Museum, based in Blandford, is the world's best collection of tanks. They have the only working Tiger Tank with almost 200 other vehicles on display across 6 large halls. It has recently expanded having won a £16 million grant. But you would be wrong to think this is just a series of static displays, impressive that they are. If you have ever fancied driving or commanding a tank then you can experience this behind the wheel of a 30 tonne main battle tank. Or take a behind the scenes tour taking a look at not just the museum, but the archives, supporting collections, the Tank Museum Workshops and take a look at the vehicles not yet on display undergoing restoration.
In Bere Regis itself the choice is easy - The Drax Arms or The Royal Oak Hotel. However, both have great reviews and The Royal Oak is also dog friendly. Further afield the choice grows with great choice available in both Dorchester and Poole.Read less
