The Chalet is a former ranger's cottage surrounded by pine trees in Avon Heath Park, close to Ringwood and the New Forest National Park. With an enclosed garden, forest views, walking and cycling trails on your doorstep and a huge variety of wildlife to see it makes for a great getaway for people who really want to get away! With all that nature on your doorstep it's good to know that The Chalet will also accept two well behaved dogs so that they also don't miss out on the excitement. There are a number of organised events that go on at the park throughout the year and there are also a number of park facilities to use including a visitor centre, cafe and children's play area.
The accommodation at The Chalet comprises of an open plan sitting/dining room with TV with Freeview, DVD player, books, games, woodburner and table and chairs making this an excellent choice all year round. The fitted kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. There is also a ground floor twin bedroom and the bathroom is also on the ground floor and comprises of a bath with shower attachment running off the taps, basin and toilet so this would be ideal for someone less mobile or who has trouble with stairs.
Upstairs you will find two further bedrooms, another twin and a king-size double that both benefit from forest views.
Outside there is an enclosed garden complete with patio furniture. There is off road parking for 3 cars. Your fuel, power and bed linen are all included in the price. Please note that cottage is accessed down a gravelled track which runs for about half a mile.
Ringwood is on the Dorset/Hampshire border and stands on the western edge of the New Forset National Park. It is a historic market town and still has a lively market each Wednesday morning. The river Avon gently meanders through and there is a good choice of quaint and new shops as well as a good choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes.Read more
The annual New Forest and Hampshire County Show is held at the end of July for 3 days in Brockenhurst and features international show jumping, lots of animals, antiques, art and lots of food and drink. The New Forest Fairy Festival is held in August and celebrates all things magical. At the end of August is the New Forest Folf Festival, a four day extravaganza of all things folk.
The New Forest Wildlife Park is 25 acres of beautiful woodland and is home to all sorts of wildlife including otters, bison, wart hogs, wolves and lynx. A great way to enjoy nature. Keeping with the outdoor theme, Exbury Gardens is a spectacular 200 acre woodland garden famous for its rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias and is hugely colourful in Spring and Autumn. The Ringwood Brewery offers tours all year round taht includes a drink and there is a shop on site too if you have liked what you have consumed.
Moors Valley Country Park is a 1000 acre country park between Ringwood and St Leonards. It has woodland, heathland, grassland, lakes and rivers with trails to explore both on foot and by bike. The narrow gauge steam railway will take you on a mile ride but if that is too sedate then try the High Wire Adventure Course instead. For something more adrenaline filled try Matcham Karting which caters for ages from 8 years old and races in all different types of formats, from Grand Prix to Enduro.
Ringwood and the surrounding area offer a large range of cafes, restaurants and country pubs and caters for all budgets and tastes as well. There are too many to list here but suffice to say you will be well catered for when holidaying in the area.Read less
