Read moreAlthough the title says beaches it would be better described as beach. Don't be disappointed there is only one beach as that beach is the famous, 7 mile, award-winning golden sandy beach you would normally associate with a trip to the Caribbean. There is a lot going on in that 7 miles from the traditional deckchairs and sunbbeds, the pier, many watersports and it also plays the host to many events that occur during the year. Essentially, if you are after a beach holiday, then you have found one of the countries top locations. Grab your bucket and spade and head down here.
There are a huge amount of events in Bournemouth, too many to list here so I will concentrate on some of the bigger annual events that are run. Probably the biggest event these days is the Bournemouth Air Festival, a free four day event that happens at the end of August. A huge variety of aircraft can be seen including the Red Arrows but its not all flying, with beach assaults, evening music entertainment, fireworks and street entertainers all making this a really memorable 4 days. If you like a classic car then every Sunday from mid April to end of September they can be found on the West Overcliff Promenade with anything up to 130 calssics on dispaly. The Pinewalk Art Exhibition has run for over over 50 years ago and is one of the largest open air art displays in the country running from the end of May until the beginning of September. The Bournemouth Food and Drink Festival covers 10 days from late June with a huge variety of events, demos, famous names and foods to try and buy.
The Bournemouth International Centre has a large variety of acts throughout the year including top comedians, musicals and theatre, exhibitions and music acts. There is so much going on check out whats going on when you are in the area. The Pavillion Theatre has West End shows and Pavillion Dance offers world class dance performances. With free entry the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum is filled with treasures from around the world and also has stuning views, a cliff top garden and a cafe.
If you want to be active on your holiday then there is a huge choice with, as you would expect, a large amount of watersports. The Bournemouth Surf School will take your through the basics and try and get you up and riding the waves. In all there are 25 different water based sports you can try out including sea kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, fishing, paddle boarding and jet skiing. For those early risers head to the beach for Yoga on the beach. Bikes can be hired for a ride along the beachfront. Or to see the amazing views of the area better than anyone else book a balloon trip with Bournemouth Balloon.
There are over 250 restaurants in Bournemouth catering for quite literally everything. Breathtaking views from seafront restaurants, seafood lovers especially will enjoy the area with locally caught, fresh produce available. If you are looking for something more exotic then you will find something from pretty much every part of the globe including Greek, Thai, Meditterranean, Brazilian, Chinese and Indian.
