If you are looking for a holiday in some beautiful countryside then Dorchester and the surrounding towns, villages and hamlets to the north of Dorset has it in abundance. It is so nice in fact that no less than 40% of the county has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with much of the countryside north of Dorchester included. The famous Blackmore Vale is part of this and from the right vantage point all of this can be viewed from the safety of your picnic blanket. The self catering properties in this region are stunning with chocolate box thatched cottages aplenty.
Dorchester itself is the county town of Dorset and houses many museums, has good shopping and has the only Michelin starred restaurant in all of Dorset. Booking is not so much advised as essential. If you are wanting to visit the area with a dog we can highly recommend it. Lots of beautiful walks all through the area and we have over 50 dog friendly cottages to choose from.
